READ TWICE: One of the most pressing global challenges facing the international community is the issue of migration, which impacts various regions of the world and hinders progress on many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Currently, millions of refugees and migrants are displaced worldwide, facing significant dangers during their journeys. Migration also has far-reaching economic and social effects. For instance, migrants have contributed significantly to workforce growth in several regions, including the United States and Europe. An international coalition of non-governmental organizations has called on the UN to establish a set of migration policies that uphold human rights, while also safeguarding the environment, ensuring economic stability, maintaining security, and combating corruption.

Workshop Activity:

As the diplomatic representatives of your country, your task is to draft a Preliminary Statement outlining your country’s position on the issues surrounding migration. Include general ideas that your country would like to see implemented to address global migration challenges.
