Model UN Awards

Student delegates who actively participate for the entirety of the conference are eligible to compete for and potentially win the awards listed below. Awards are presented in a ceremony at the end of the conference.

Hugh Kearney Best Delegation: Awarded to the team that most accurately and persuasively represents its country’s international position; chosen by students, teachers, and conference co-chairs

Best Public Speaker: Awarded to the one delegate who best fulfills the attributes of an international ambassador, as conveyed through oral presentations; chosen by teachers and conference co-chairs

Best Position Paper: Given to the delegation that provides the written position paper that most accurately reflects its country’s ideas and conveys exemplary negotiation language; chosen by teachers and conference co-chairs

James C. Roberts Best Negotiating Team: Presented to the delegation that works hardest and most effectively in negotiating with others to achieve its goals in both formal and informal conference settings; chosen by student participants

Best Diplomat (first place only – regular and advanced): TU Student Choice Award - chosen by TU volunteers for the delegation that best uses the messaging system to advance their diplomatic goals
